The ABCs of Insanity

ABC News must be so proud! One of the news division’s most prominent stars just put forth perhaps the most deranged, delirious, and demonic argument in history, a rant that deserves a cherished spot in the Museum of Bad Broadcasting.

Caryn Johnson, better known as Whoopi Goldberg, actually declared that life for women in Iran is pretty much the same as life for Blacks in America. Perhaps she spells it AmeriKKKa in her addled brain.  Whoopi has previously taken heat for bizarre comments about the Holocaust, rape, and many other subjects, but her most recent tirade puts those to shame.

If you missed it, she said the USA has treated Blacks and gays with unspeakable cruelty, and, as always, some in the audience clapped like trained seals.  Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin, daughter of an Arab man, tried to inject a dollop of sanity by pointing out that living in the United States of America in 2025 is ‘very different’ than living in Iran.  Whoopi’s astute reply: ‘Not if you’re Black.’

For a reality check, we turn to the Center for Human Rights in Iran.  The Center reports that girls’ faces must be covered beginning in first grade and that all females are required to cover their hair and entire bodies.  And there’s this:  ‘Those who defy the dress code can face punishments that include flogging, fines, and imprisonment.’

The Islamic Republic of Iran is a wretched and barbaric place, a country where Whoopi’s dreadlocks would have to go into hiding.  But this TV host, who once claimed that she has a ‘hard time’ getting by on $8 million a year, contends that it’s pretty much the same as the USA.  She is the poster child for perennial victimhood.

Remember that ABC News was once home to Peter Jennings, Ted Koppel, Diane Sawyer, and Brit Hume.  Now it is a playground for the likes of George Stephanopoulos, who falsely labeled President Trump a rapist, and Terry Moran, who was just fired for posting an anti-Trump diatribe.  But ABC’s greatest shame is on display every weekday morning at 11:00.

Whoopi’s bosses at ABC and parent company Disney have reportedly told the women of The View to tone down their vitriolic assaults on Donald Trump.  But apparently, their home country, aka The Great Satan, is still fair game.  We hereby suggest a new signoff every morning: ‘This is Whoopi, Joy, and Sunny, proudly reporting for ABC News.’
