The press finally has a specific, legitimate grievance against the Trump administration because the President’s lawyers now say he did, indeed, craft a statement for his son after the now infamous meeting with a Russian lawyer in the Trump Tower during the campaign.

The President’s crew including Sarah Huckabee Sanders previously denied any involvement by Mr. Trump, Sr.

Of course, that strained credulity from the jump.  Donald Trump Jr. got caught in an embarrassing situation and it would be inconceivable that his powerful father would not advise him.

However, deceit is deceit so the Trumps are taking their lumps, pardon the rhyme.

The media now has one more reason to loathe Donald Trump, not that they need more ammo.  But most Americans, I believe, are yawning.  They understand the President has been under siege from Election Day and are willing to cut him some slack as long as his policies are to their liking.

But the President should understand that any misleading statement by him will be exposed.  He simply has too many enemies to get away with anything.  

This Don, Jr. story will shortly be overwhelmed by the Justice Department’s Inspector General’s report, and the meeting with Kim Jung Un a week from today in Singapore.  Lots of things swirling around but for the country’s sake, all should tell the truth: politicians and the press.
