If you’re of a certain age, you remember the blockbuster 1971 Motown hit from The Undisputed Truth:
‘Smiling faces, smiling faces, sometimes they don’t tell the truth.’
Here’s another undisputed truth: Zohran Mamdani has an absolutely fabulous smile. The New York mayoral candidate knows it and proudly flashes that big grin every chance he gets. His seductive smile is one reason this communist stands a decent chance of winning, despite espousing an ideology that led to tens of millions of deaths.
Mamdani will tell you (with a smile!) that he’s no communist, just a friendly, run-of-the-mill democratic socialist who has nothing in common with Marx except a beard. But just a few years ago, Mamdani endorsed ‘seizing the means of production,’ a phrase that really separates the men from the boys when it comes to left-wing radicalism. The Bolsheviks did some seizing a century ago and paved the way for mass murder on a scale Genghis Khan would envy. Smilin’ Zohran also wants to institute city-run grocery stores, free transportation, and assorted other inanities.
Mamdani isn’t the only prominent individual who tends to smile while spewing vile words. Watch Ilhan (Somalia First!) Omar grin while downplaying the horrors of 9/11 or demonizing America. Gavin Newsom’s standard expression is more of a wicked smirk that seems as inauthentic as the rest of him. Meanwhile, MSNBC anchors past and present, notably Jen Psaki and Joy Reid, wear permanent smiles while denouncing the evils of Donald Trump and conservatives. No doubt there are Republicans with the same deceitful trait, but it seems to be largely a left-wing phenomenon.
In contrast, there is the perpetual scowl of Border Czar Tom Homan. He is arguably the most effective person in all of government, but his smile is reserved for when he’s challenging a heckler to a fistfight. Who would you rather have on your side, Grinnin’ Zohran or Glowerin’ Tom? The question answers itself.
We claim no scientific proof that smiling politicians are probably shady, but we do suggest that you observe the facial expressions of those who tout their own virtue and vow to make your life better. And never forget this priceless and timeless advice from The Undisputed Truth:
‘Smiling faces show no traces, Of the evil that lurks within. Can you dig it?
