Dealing with Political Speech
July 27, 2020

If you are outraged about recent political behavior, like the burning of buildings, it can be very difficult to speak about it.

Never talk about this in the work place, you may be putting your job at risk. If you’re a student, you may be putting your grades at risk.

Even with family, you must be careful with how you approach the conversation. It’s an emotional topic.

You need to take the temperature of the person you are speaking with - find out if this is a reasonable person and if they want to hear your point of view.

So, if you’re speaking with someone who doesn’t want to debate, they just want to spout off – listen politely for about 30 seconds and just run off.

I won’t even deal with anyone who won’t stand up for our country. It’s not worth it to try with these people.

Political speech can hurt you, so you must be careful in these days. Keep that in mind and be aware of who you’re speaking with.
