This coming Saturday, I will be attending the White House Correspondents’ Dinner because it should be an interesting story. For the first time as President, Donald Trump will present at the function, and already, disenchantment has appeared.
94-year-old Dan Rather and 92-year-old Sam Donaldson both signed a letter urging the press attendees to “forcefully demonstrate opposition” to President Trump AT THE DINNER! I’m not sure how you do that, but I am digesting the word “forcefully.”
I worked for Rather and was in proximity to Donaldson at ABC News. Both men are liberal lions who did not hide their ideology from viewers. They carry that legacy to this day.
Hopefully, the press will respect the office of the presidency on Saturday. If they do not, I will confront them. Not a threat, an advisement. Rather and Donaldson will not be there, but I do expect some inappropriate displays by ardent leftists. If those happen, there will be a response by your humble correspondent.
This isn’t about Donald Trump. It’s about the office he holds. A no-disrespect zone will be enforced.
