Bill & Beck on the Most Important Stories of 2017
December 21, 2017

Beck starts off the interview by asking Bill what he thinks the 3 most important stories of the year were. Bill says that the most important story of the year is the attack on Donald Trump by the media. It has changed the way news reportage is expedited in this country. The second most important story, according to Bill, is the rise of the American economy which will become even more noticeable in 2018. Bill’s third most important story is the defeat of ISIS in Syria and Iraq.

Beck jokes by saying that none of those top 3 stories are correct, so he goes on to list his top stories of the year. Beck’s #1 story of the year is Gorsuch, which he believes will leave a lasting,  hopefully a positive mark, on America. His #2 is the charge of fake news and the American press not being able to see it. It has become a battle of the right and the left’s opinion on what fake news is. Beck’s third pick is Trump announcing that the capital of Israel is Jerusalem. Bill says that Beck is getting into the weeds on his top stories, while Bill chose stories that would directly affect the folks.

Beck brings up the point that neither of them brought up the fact that Harvey Weinstein was in their top three stories for the year. It’s a remarkably huge story, but Bill says that it isn’t effecting the everyday lives of Americans. It’s more of a sensationalistic piece of culture that most people are looking at saying, “wow,” but does it affect the way they live their lives, the way they raise their children? No. It doesn’t have a lasting effect on regular working people.

Beck pivots to the war on Christmas. It is beyond shameful that CNN and others feel that they have license to denigrate all of the Catholic traditions, which is what they are doing and there is no doubt about it. CNN is mocking the traditions of Santa Claus, Christmas and just an overall magical time. They have stooped so low that they feel the need to inject social justice into the happiest time of the year.

Bill believes that we have won the ‘war on Christmas,’ because most people aren’t afraid to say “Merry Christmas” anymore. However, Beck brings up the point that when he looks at the top 50 Christmas songs this year, there isn’t a religious reference in any of them. Bill points out that is why his children attend private schools, because he doesn’t want them to have to be on the defensive about their religion. Nowadays, if you’re a man or woman of faith you have to be cautious about it.

Beck asks Bill what some of his holiday traditions were when he was growing up. Bill recounts his first memory of Christmas, sitting on the stairs of his Levittown house, he’d go up to bed but when he woke up, very early in the morning all the presents were there under the Christmas tree. Is Santa Claus real?

They pivoted away from Christmas to discuss how journalism has become corrupt beyond redemption. Bill says we no longer have a free press anymore in this country. This is now an industry of destruction, they have found a way to destroy people and it involves money and politics.

They ended the conversation saying that Beck has a great show, but everyone should also go to BillOReilly.com and become a Premium Member.
