May 16, 2022. An unofficial coronation took place that Monday afternoon. Karine Jean-Pierre was crowned Her Highness, Queen of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. The newly minted White House Press Secretary took to the podium and immediately made this declaration: ‘I am a Black, gay, immigrant woman, the first of all three of those to hold this position.’ Thus she accomplished the trifecta of victimhood, the hat trick of identity politics.
Most of the media hailed Queen Karine for obliterating glass ceilings. CBS News breathlessly reported that Jean-Pierre ‘made history,’ while The Hill lauded ‘the historic nature of her role’ and the buffoonish April Ryan celebrated the ‘historic moment.’ There would be very little press criticism as Karine Jean-Pierre spent the next two years pounding the podium and insisting that Joe Biden was the sharpest tool in the shed until he wasn’t.
It was a stark contrast this past Tuesday when Katie Zacharia took the podium for her debut as press secretary. She was undeniably nervous, as expected, and took only a handful of questions. The critics just couldn’t wait to pile on. CNN brought the incompetent Karine Jean-Pierre herself out of mothballs to offer this assessment: ‘You cannot just go in there not prepared … I’ve never seen anything like this.’ Over on MS NOW, that other former Biden flack Jen Psaki circled back and declared, ‘Maybe this whole White House Press Secretary thing is not for Katie.’ This is after ONE briefing of less than 15 minutes!
The media have many reasons to dislike Katie Zacharia. She is a MAGA loyalist, blonde, attractive, mother of four, and unabashedly pro-life for a very good reason. As she tells it, her teenage mom was about to have her aborted but at the last minute decided to put baby Katie up for adoption. Zacharia is deeply Christian and staunchly opposed to abortion, which to the media is like showing a cross to a vampire.
Back to the unhinged reactions. ‘Comedian’ Jimmy Kimmel called Katie a ‘new fawning blonde dolt.’ Left-wing hack Norm Eisen, a regular on MS NOW for reasons unknown, suggested that Zacharia received her law degree at a duty-free shop. His rapier wit was topped only by The Atlantic, which ran this headline: ‘Hi, I’m Your New Press Secretary, and It’s My First Time Reading Words Out Loud.’ These Democratic sycophants never uttered a discouraging word about Karine Jean-Pierre. Still, they couldn’t wait to pounce on Katie Zacharia, gleefully hurling insults and mockery while investigating her credentials as a lawyer.
It’s certainly true that Zacharia has a mighty tough act to follow in Karoline Leavitt, who handled the media like Mike Tyson going a few rounds with James Talarico. Perhaps Katie will turn out to be less than competent and will be shown the door faster than you can say Anthony Scaramucci. But can she ever be as downright dumb and duplicitous as Karine Jean-Pierre, who assured us that the border was secure, Biden opposed school shutdowns, and inflation was ‘transitory.’ KJP set a very, very low bar but got away with it because she was triple-vaxxed against criticism. Katie Zacharia may be wondering where she can obtain a dose of this miracle vaccine, but it is only available to Democrats, progressives, and DEI hires. Conservatives need not apply.
