Looking at the president’s past, this is typically a prelude to a larger agreement he wants to make. Unfortunately, none of these deals have come to fruition in the last two years.
So, maybe it’s a backdoor play. I don’t know. It’s causing a lot of problems in Europe, the American left, and conservatives.
People don’t understand why we’re not punishing Putin fully. According to NATO, his invasion of Ukraine has caused the deaths of half a million people. The actual toll is probably higher.
Why give Russia some economic relief? The honest answer is: I don’t know.
