The House brawl over Kevin McCarthy becoming Speaker shows one irrefutable thing; Democrats are much more united than Republicans.
That's important, as we saw in the midterm election. Somehow, the progressive wing of the Dem movement has overwhelmed the moderates in that party as they consistently go along with the far-left agenda.
Not so in the GOP, where there is dissent. The committed far right doesn't like McCarthy and is sabotaging his ascension to power. How that plays out remains a mystery.
Congress should be a place where representatives vote their conscience. But money has corrupted that important concept. Congresspeople run every two years, and they need party cash. That's what wiped out "moderate democrats."
