Politics is a Tough Road
September 21, 2022

So let me ask you an important question. Do most of the people you know want you to succeed in life?  Or not?

Chances are you don't know.  That's because jealousy and resentment are sometimes masked.  Two-faced is the expression.

In politics and sports, things are different. Americans have their teams, and we want them to do well, or else we'd find new teams.  Therefore, there's no hope of Red Sox fans rooting for the Yankees or conservative folks pulling for Joe Biden.

As Bush the Elder once said: "not gonna happen."

This makes things harder for Biden, Trump, and all politicians who must deal with resistance no matter what they do.  The Yankees don't need Sox fans in order to succeed, but elected leaders can only be effective if a majority supports them.

So, politics is unique and a very tough road.

But back to you.  It's important to know who is wishing you prosperity and who is not.  Some try to persuade the naysayers to their side but not me.

I try to treat everyone fairly but understand that not all will return respect.

So, I walk away from those people, as difficult as it is sometimes.  I don't want to be ambushed down the road.
