Of all the countries in the world, South Korea is handling the contagion the best, I think. With a population of 51 million, South Korea reports 75 dead.
By contrast, Italy with 61 million residents counts more than two thousand killed by the virus. The USA says at least 85 Americans have perished.
The South Korean strategy is spearheaded by a private company which is rapidly churning out test kits. About 20,000 people a day are tested and if they turn up positive, they are tagged electronically and quarantined.
In addition, all public spaces are cleaned twice a day by work crews. The South Korean government is not fooling around. Citizens know it and obey the orders.
The Koreans have a much more disciplined society than we do. But the Trump administration would be wise to issue instructions to the states that follow strict procedural guidelines for testing. The kits will be available soon but electronic tagging is crucial.
Tonight on the No Spin News, I will analyze President Trump’s posture regarding the contagion. As always, we will tell you the truth. See you at 7 eastern. |
