NEW YORK, January 9, 2007 — A colossal media event a year-and-a-half in the making will unfold when Stephen Colbert ventures into the "No Spin Zone" to make his debut guest appearance on FOX News Channel's (FNC) The O'Reilly Factor on Thursday, January 18th at 8:00 PM. Later that evening Bill O'Reilly will grab his American passport and head over to "Colbert Nation" for his debut appearance on COMEDY CENTRAL's The Colbert Report airing at 11:30 PM
Colbert commented, "I look forward to the evening. It is an honor to speak face-to-face with a broadcasting legend, and I feel the same way about Mr. O'Reilly."
O'Reilly added, "I'm really looking forward to speaking to a man who owes his entire career to me!"
The Colbert Report airs Monday-Thursday at 11:30 p.m. following The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Each episode repeats Monday-Thursday at 1:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. and Friday at 10:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m., and 8:30 p.m. (all times ET/PT). Guests who Colbert has "nailed" in the past include: Stone Phillips, Barry Manilow, Tim Robbins, New York Governor Eliot Spitzer, Deepak Chopra, Randy Newman, Frank Rich, Martin Short, Toby Keith, Neil Young, Morgan Spurlock, Tom Brokaw, Dhani Jones, Tony Hawk, Madeleine Albright, Sebastian Junger, Jesse Jackson, Arianna Huffington, Frank McCourt, Maureen Dowd, Jim Lehrer, Harry Seharer, Mike Lupica, Representative Robert Wexler (D-FL), Ron Reagan Jr. and Lorraine Bracco.
The O'Reilly Factor has been the highest rated program in cable news for more than five years. Going beyond just the headlines, the Factor uncovers news items from the established wisdom and goes against the grain of the more traditional interview style programs. No stranger to controversy, O'Reilly's signature "no spin zone" is designed to cut through the rhetoric as he interviews the key players. Throughout the past 10 years, O'Reilly has authored four New York Times bestsellers, including the most recent Culture Warrior, as well as The O'Reilly Factor and The No Spin Zone, which were both number one on the bestseller list, and The O'Reilly Factor for Kids. He was also named one of the 10 most powerful people in TV news by Television Week in 2003 and 2004. |
