An armed thug with a long rap sheet shot and killed police officer Steve Owen in California Thursday. The Factor spoke about the increasing danger faced by cops with Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke and former NYPD detective Joe Sweeney. "There has been a 'Ferguson effect,'" Clarke suggested, "where police are engaging in less assertive policing against people who are armed. There is a direct connection between less assertive policing and the higher crime rate. Mrs. Bill Clinton is whistling past the graveyard of the bodies that are piling up, and the overwhelming majority of the victims are good, law-abiding black people." But Sweeney, who supports Hillary Clinton, praised her emphasis on community policing. "There is no way to solve the problem by just saying, 'I support the police.' I think Hillary Clinton's support for funding police training will go a long way toward solving the problem."
