Let the Honest Debate Begin
October 3, 2017
The feeling is helpless.  Looking at the young faces of those slaughtered in Vegas yesterday, sadness descends across the land.  But there is nothing anyone can do to reverse the horror.

The individual states should begin the process of making gun laws more specific.  What works in Arizona, for example, may not work in New York.  Americans have a right to decide for themselves what kind of public safety they want.  People like Hillary Clinton who callously demagogue the problem are not helpful.

Let the honest debate begin.

As for Congress, it has a responsibility to provide leadership in this white-hot issue.   Let's see some well thought out federal legislation that can provide at least some protection.

There is no question that violent crime is going down in America.  Our society is making progress.

But we need to make more.  The powers that be have to provide effective deterrents to mass murder within the framework of the Second Amendment.

It may be impossible.  But we have to try.
