President Trump has largely succeeded in transforming the U.S economy into a more robust manufacturing situation. Trillions of dollars have been pledged by companies like Apple to invest in new plants and make stuff here rather than abroad.
But seeing more jobs and the higher salaries that accompany heavy industry will take time, and Americans are not known for their patience.
Right now, outrageous insurance costs as well as medicine prices are hurting the average folks. Some of that is leftover from the hapless presidency of Joe Biden, but voters don't really care. They want relief now.
Food is also a problem. Many companies are hanging on to Covid pricing when long supply lines drove up costs. They don't want to give consumers a break because food is essential, not optional.
Capitalism can be abused, and the President would be wise to examine the marketplace in America as he's done with corporations overseas.
The midterm vote might depend on it.
Enjoy the August weekend.
