O'Reilly on the Trump Jr. Scandal; Laura Ingraham Opines
July 12, 2017

Bill began with the latest on Donald Trump Jr. and his controversial meeting a year ago with a Russian lawyer.  "The hysteria is dying down," he observed, "because people can only keep it up so long.  No crime was committed, but Trump Jr. should not have gone to the meeting.  He should have sent someone else and he should have put this out much sooner to get it behind him."

Bill also eviscerated newspapers, specifically Long Island Newsday, that got many of the facts dramatically wrong.  "Donald Trump Jr. didn't meet with 'the Russians,' he met with a woman who is a Russian lawyer and who says she has nothing to do with the government.  This all began with a sleazy PR guy who set up the meeting.  There is no sedition, no treason, and for there to be collusion there has to be a quid pro quo."

Radio host Laura Ingraham, an early and avid Trump supporter, joined Bill with her evaluation of the president's performance thus far.  "I think it's been really good," she said without hesitation.  "Amazing and positive things have been happening, even without the legislative results.  There have been some fantastic things on trade with our trading partners not taking advantage of us as much, not cheating as much.  Obviously, illegal immigration is also way down."

Ingraham was not quite as sanguine about health care reform:  "It was obvious from before the election that there would never be a majority of Republicans who are populist conservatives.  President Trump has dissipated his influence on Capitol Hill by the administration stepping on its own narrative.  The message on health care seems muddled and confused, while the Democrats have full unity in their resistance.  Republicans need to have a clear path forward on health care freedom, but they don't.  We should be the party of freedom!"  Bill warned that Republicans and President Trump are in danger of losing any good will that they have with the American people, saying, "He needs to get the health care bill passed and then segue right into tax cuts."

Bill and Laura turned to the unending Russia investigation.  "It's not going to stop," she lamented.  "Special Counsel Robert Mueller has put together a team of legal powerhouses, even though there is no underlying crime here.  And if there's no crime, you can't have obstruction of justice."  She also castigated President Trump for his incessant tweets:  "If he had no social media, there would not be a special counsel and he would be well on his way to getting some legislative victories.  Many of these wounds are self-inflicted and the fires are further fanned by media that are out to get him."

When Laura Ingraham departed, Bill analyzed the Senate Judiciary Committee's questioning of prospective FBI Director Christopher Wray.  "This is a slam dunk," he predicted, "and Wray will be confirmed.  He seems like an honest man who has a lot of experience and he said all the right things today.  He's in and that's fine for the country."

Meanwhile, there is another horrible story out of Nebraska, where 32-year-old illegal alien Nemias Garcia-Velasco killed a passenger in the car he was driving after downing about a dozen beers.  He had been in and out of the country seven times!  "This goes right to Kate's Law," Bill said, "because this is another illegal immigrant who kept sneaking back into the country.  The law gives ICE the power to pick someone up if they've been deported many times."  As you probably know, Kate's Law has passed the House but may be blocked by Democrats in the Senate.

Turning to viewer mail, many Premium Members wrote in to comment on Tuesday's interview with Glenn Beck, who was very tough on Donald Trump Jr. and the administration.  One viewer summed things up pithily, asking, "When are Republicans going to realize that people who voted for Trump don't give a rat's behind about the Russian fairy tale?"  Bill's reply:  "Republicans aren't the problem, it's the hate-Trump movement.  Most Republicans see this as a witch hunt that is diverting from the nation's problems.

Responding to another Premium Member, Bill laid out one of the challenges facing President Trump:  "Draining the swamp will be very difficult.  These people do not want any changes, they like the corrupt system in Washington as it is.  Trump's trying to be an agent of change but they're trying to kill him.  This is not a knock on Reince Priebus, but the White House needs a new chief of staff who has been around Washington."

Bill also hammered left-wing legislators who are on the verge of making California a sanctuary state:  "California is a troubled place with a crazy-left legislature in Sacramento.  These people will keep provoking the federal government until the feds cut off the highway money."

Bill wrapped up by informing Premium Members how much he is enjoying imparting information on the daily No Spin News.  Please check back Thursday for another edition, during which Bill will expound on his vision of health care and the government's role.  Also, veteran journalist Sharyl Attkisson will be here to discuss our corrupt media.  See you then.
