Bernie Goldberg also weighed in on the conversation with President Trump. "The Putin 'killer' exchange was important," he said, "because of the conservative reaction. Imagine if President Obama had said he respected Putin and said, 'There are a lot of killers, you think we're so innocent?' The people watching us tonight would be outraged, they would accuse him of treason. Where is the conservative outrage over this statement? Donald Trump has told us how smart he is, but why didn't he just say, 'I have to deal with people who don't win humanitarian awards?' He didn't say that, he left it to you to give a generous interpretation of what he meant."
