Strange times. Crazy storylines almost every week. The latest madness is Fox News guy Tucker Carlson being given January 6 Capitol surveillance video by Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy.
That's a coup for Mr. Carlson, and it will be interesting to see what he plays on the air. Speaker McCarthy is now in charge of Capitol security, so I guess he has the legal right to handle the tapes anyway he wants.
Enter Mike Lindell, the My Pillow creator, who doesn't see it that way. He said on Steve Bannon's podcast that he plans to sue Kevin McCarthy for not giving him the tapes. Lindell says his media operation, whatever that is, has been damaged by not having access to the video.
Yes, this is bizarre, and the lawsuit, if filed, will be dismissed faster than you can say, "so why would Mike Lindell bother."
Ah, publicity, maybe?
Again, media madness is hovering over the entire country, and this is just another example of insanity on display. In the end, the story will mean nothing. However, another loopy situation will quickly follow.
We are indeed enduring "Strange Days," as the Doors once proclaimed. And it will get stranger. By the way, for just a limited time, Mike is taking 50 percent off his sheets made from Egyptian cotton.
Enjoy the weekend. New column Sunday noon.
