The Memorial Day weekend was a very slow news time, not much happening. So Sarah Palin got a massive amount of attention after she rented a bus and drove around the Northeast talking to the folks. That led to rampant speculation that the former governor of Alaska will run for president, but there is no hard evidence of that.

As you may know, Mrs. Palin has very high negatives. About 59 percent do not approve of her, according to a recent AP poll.

But she is a star, able to garner a lot of attention quickly, and many conservative Americans would vote for her. However, the Republican establishment is generally not Palin-friendly:

GEORGE WILL, CONSERVATIVE COLUMNIST: She has several political problems, the first of which is there's no undecided vote in this country anymore about Sarah Palin, surely. Second, the threshold question. It's not usually asked, but it's in everyone's mind in a presidential election: Should we give this person nuclear weapons? And the answer is -- answers itself there. That doesn't mean she can't be without political consequence.

Also, Gov. Palin has a big problem with the liberal media, which openly despises her, especially NBC News:

JOHN HARWOOD, CNBC CORRESPONDENT: The first thing to know about Sarah Palin is she has -- given her negatives nationally in this country -- she has next to zero chance of being elected president; probably can't even be elected to win the Republican nomination.

"Talking Points" continues to believe that Sarah Palin will not run for president, and even if she does an interesting situation emerges because Congresswoman Michele Bachmann will probably run. That would pit Palin against Bachmann.

About 50,000 of you voted last week when we presented these four names for your selection: Mrs. Bachmann won with 44 percent; Mr. Romney got 24 percent; Newt Gingrich, 12; Tim Pawlenty, 20.

That poll is interesting because it is divided between conservative votes for Bachmann and Gingrich, and moderate votes for Romney and Pawlenty.

If Sarah Palin does decide to run for president, she will definitely shake up the Republican Party. The rap against her is she is not smart enough to be president, but, again, millions of conservative Americans like her and believe she is qualified to run the country. As "Talking Points" has pointed out in the past, the governor did a pretty good job running Alaska, did she not?

However, Sarah Palin would be a long, long shot to defeat Barack Obama because she would have to persuade millions of independent voters to go her way; probably not going to happen.

The movie "Hangover 2," an R-rated comedy, grossed more than $137 million in just five days, the highest total ever for that kind of film. Now, here's the question: Are we Americans pinheads for supporting stuff like that, or are we patriots for having a good sense of humor? I'm copping out. I haven't seen the picture.
