The seemingly never-ending Russia collusion investigation is now taking a turn that puts President Trump in jeopardy. It is being reported that Special Counsel Robert Mueller is considering issuing a subpoena for Mr. Trump to testify before a criminal Grand Jury.
You may remember Kenneth Starr did exactly the same thing to President Clinton and then withdrew the subpoena after Mr. Clinton voluntarily agreed to testify about his sex entanglements.
Subsequently, Bill Clinton was impeached, basically for not telling the truth. He was not convicted in the Senate and remained in office.
The Trump legal team and the President himself should learn a lesson from the Clinton ordeal: Don’t testify. If subpoenaed take the fifth. There is no way on earth Donald Trump can remember every detail of his chaotic first year in office. One misstatement to Mueller’s crew and he could be charged with a crime.
Of course, the President would have to explain very specifically to the American people that he is taking the fifth to avoid the so called “perjury trap.” After his explanation, the folks would then make up their own minds whether Mr. Trump’s avoidance of Mueller’s questions is legitimate.
Tonight on the No Spin News, we will report on the upcoming showdown between Robert Mueller and Donald Trump - a situation that could get out of control fast. Can Rudy Giuliani save President Trump?
High drama beginning at 7 eastern time tonight.
