O'Reilly on Hurricane Irma, Hillary Clinton Blaming James Comey, & Steve Bannon on "60 Minutes"

Bill began Monday's No Spin News with a personal reflection on September 11, 2001.  "This is a bitter day for me," he said.  "Scores of people here in my neighborhood on Long Island were killed during the 9/11 attacks.  A very close friend of mine lost two sons in the World Trade Center.  Can you imagine that?  The man and his wife got through it somehow, but they're never the same."  He also praised the work of the feds over the past sixteen years, saying, "The government under George Bush, Barack Obama, and Donald Trump has done a magnificent job in protecting us."

For some astute observations on Hurricane Irma, Bill talked via Skype with star meteorologist Joe Bastardi, the chief forecaster at WeatherBell Analytics.  "I was a little surprised by the end game of Irma," Bastardi said, "but I started suspecting it Friday afternoon.  That brush with Cuba was very important because when you have a very powerful hurricane, the slightest thing will disrupt it and knock the wind down.  Brushing Cuba stopped the intensification process.  Instead of continuing to strengthen, it weakened."

Bastardi, a well-known 'global warming' skeptic, explained his position as it relates to hurricanes.  "I believe the globe warms and cools in a cyclical nature," he said, "and our preseason forecast predicted that this would happen.  We had twelve years in a row where there were few hurricanes and global warming may have played a role in that.  The problem with this whole global warming thing is that people don't understand that, on balance, northern winters are warming up but tropical areas are changing very little."  Before leaving, Bastardi warned that Hurricane Jose could threaten the Eastern Seaboard within a week or so.

Bill then used Hurricane Irma as an example of how the mainstream media can be totally dishonest.  "I don't know Rush Limbaugh," he stated, "and so I have no vested interest in what he does.  When he said that the media wants to get across that global warming is causing these hurricanes, the 'hate Limbaugh' people on the far left started deriding him.  Then he was ordered to evacuate his house by Florida authorities and the far left websites talked about how 'Limbaugh flees,' but this was so blatantly dishonest.  They get away with it because people don't know what he actually said.  This is what fake news is all about and it's wrong!"

Hillary Clinton sat down for her first book tour TV interview with Jane Pauley of CBS News.  Mrs. Clinton blamed her loss largely on former FBI boss James Comey, who re-opened the investigation into her emails not long before the election.  "James Comey closed the email investigation," Bill reported, "and he announced it to the nation, saying there was not enough to indict.  Then, when new information came in, Comey had to re-open the investigation.  Do you get this, Hillary Clinton?  He had to do it!"

Turning to another interview, Bill critiqued Charlie Rose's interrogation of Steve Bannon on '60 Minutes:'  "Bannon was pretty strong but I didn't get much out of it.  Rose was particularly incensed by President Trump's DACA decision, but I would have liked to ask Charlie Rose if he is alright with people surging across the border and whether he supports the wall or deportation.  He couldn't say yes because he would lose all credibility with the left and his party invitations would dry up."

Meanwhile, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio has established a panel that will assess whether or not historical monuments should be torn down.  "I believe that de Blasio is a communist," Bill declared, "based on observing the man for 20 years.  So he appoints this panel that has every left-wing loon in town.  Grant's Tomb?  It will be gone.  Washington?  Bye-bye.  Things are now so bad that Los Angeles has banned Columbus Day and replaced it with 'Indigenous People's Day.'  Do the leftists have any idea what the indigenous people did to each other before the Europeans showed up.  There was savage warfare and cannibalism, they made Columbus look like Mother Teresa.  These morons in Los Angeles don't know anything about what happened."  A great way to learn more about our own Founding Fathers, Bill reiterated, is to pick up 'Killing England' when it is released next week.

Many Premium Members took up Bill's challenge and tried to explain the dramatic drop in crime in the USA.  One PM suggested it was due to a decline in illegal immigration, another theorized that police are arresting fewer people because they are afraid of being investigated and castigated themselves, and still another Premium Member attributed the drop to our aging population.

One final theory came from a viewer who suggested that crime may falling because kids are spending so much time at home playing with their phones.  The rise of the machines has been accompanied by a decline in teen pregnancy, crime, and some other dysfunctional behaviors.  If true, we can consider that a silver lining in the mostly dark cloud of our growing addiction to the devices.  See you tomorrow for another edition of the No Spin News.
