Our neighbors to the north gain $60 billion each year by sending goods into the United States. This drives Donald Trump crazy.

 

He wants the Canadians to buy more stuff made in the USA. The progressives in Ottawa don’t want to do that. So the President is slapping tariffs on many Canadian products: hockey equipment, booze, dairy, motorcycles, dog leashes, cement, candles, cars, steel, and on.

 

Mister Trump understands that we manufacture these things here. Why import them from another country?

 

Now, the President is officially renaming “Lake Ontario” to “Lake America.” Not really sure how that impacts our trade deficit.

 

Should this beef with Canada be worked out? Yes.

 

Is the Prime Minister playing to his progressive crew? Yes.

 

Is Trump being bellicose? Yes.

 

The truth is a trade deal can be reached within two days. But both sides have to want it.
