Surrounding Yourself with Variety

Ruth Bader Ginsburg was a very liberal Supreme Court Justice.

Even with that, there were two justices who really liked Justice Ginsburg personally -  Justice Scalia and Thomas.

Those two men were ideologically as far apart as you can get from Justice Ginsburg – yet they formed a great friendship and had a deep respect for each other. That’s a very good thing.

Sometimes, many of us, including me, have a hard time respecting people that we disagree with. It’s important to move beyond that.

It’s good to have a variety of people in our lives. If you surround yourself with people who think like you, you won’t be challenged or have any robust debates.

If someone is unreasonable, it may not be worth it. But it’s certainly crucial to have reasonable variety in your life.
