Monday: Hillary's Troubles, Answering Questions on Trump
A Basket of Problems for Hillary Clinton
"Not since President William Henry Harrison died of reported pneumonia in 1841, just 32 days into his term, has that lung infection so captured the imagination of voters. Hillary Clinton faltered at a 9/11 memorial Sunday and her campaign announced afterward that she has pneumonia, something they knew last Friday. The stamina of both Mrs. Clinton and Donald Trump is amazing. They are under constant pressure, in motion all the time, and the fact that they can pull it off is astounding. Going forward, both candidates should be candid about their health because it is a major factor in leadership. But that situation is far overshadowed by the 'basket of deplorables' comment. On Friday night Hillary Clinton said this: 'You could put half of Trump's supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables. Right? The racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic, you name it.' That's lunacy that smears millions of Americans. Talking Points believes Secretary Clinton made a big mistake reminiscent of Mitt Romney saying that 47% of Americans would not vote for him because they want stuff. Every fair-minded person knows you cannot generalize about what is in peoples' hearts, and I don't include the far left under the banner of fair-minded. What Mrs. Clinton's comments really do is mobilize those who were thinking about voting for Donald Trump, not his hard core supporters. Branding people racist is despicable unless there is undeniable proof. Again, fair-minded people know that. When I heard Hillary Clinton say 'basket of deplorables' I was surprised. She is a measured speaker and that was written for her. Somebody should have known that it would give Donald Trump a major advantage. But campaigns are very strange things."

The Factor invited reaction from Democratic strategist Mary Anne Marsh and conservative columnist Katie Pavlich. "Hillary Clinton was actually smart in saying this," Marsh declared. "60% of American voters and 61% of white, college-educated women think Donald Trump is biased against women and minorities. That statement reminded undecided voters that Donald Trump has said a litany of deplorable things about women, minorities, POWs, Gold Star mothers, and I could go down the list. This will work better than you think!" Pavlich, in contrast, theorized that Hillary Clinton damaged her campaign. "Her 'basket of deplorables' line isn't going to convince people to vote for her, and right now she has a 19% enthusiasm gap when it comes to people wanting to vote for her. People are excited to vote for Donald Trump and she will find that every time he is attacked it gets people more excited to vote for him."
What Would You Like to Know about Trump?
Many viewers presented their questions about Donald Trump and the Factor's crack research staff searched and scoured for answers. Paul Goldstein of Jasper, Georgia asked, "Will Trump place his financial interests in trust if he is elected?" The Factor's reply: "Trump has said that he will put his financial assets in a blind trust, but he told Maria Bartiromo at Fox Business that his children will run the Trump empire. So the personal stuff will be in a blind trust, the businesses will be run by his kids." David Harding of Appalachia, Virginia asked, "Will Trump enforce federal laws against marijuana and override what some states are doing?" The Factor: "Donald Trump would most likely leave the pot situation to the states." David Harsh of Connersville, Indiana wondered, "What is Trump's position on Social Security?" The Factor: "Trump has said he won't touch Social Security except to root out fraud." Tom Herrington of Jenison, Michigan asked, "Is Trump using money from the RNC? How much of his own money has he spent on the campaign?" The Factor: "The Trump campaign says he has spent about $60-million of his own money so far. The Republican National Committee makes no direct contributions, but private donors are sending him cash."
Pence Pays the Piper
Donald Trump's running mate Mike Pence has released his income tax returns, which indicate that he paid a federal rate of only about 8%. Fox Business host Stuart Varney elaborated. "He made $113,000, which is not enough to put him into the highest brackets, and most of his income was taxed at 15% or 25%. He got a $5,000 educational tax credit and donated a lot to charity. Mike Pence's return is boring with nothing illegal or unusual." Varney, who supports Donald Trump, expressed his absolute disgust at Hillary Clinton's 'basket of deplorables' insult. "I don't think she should be dismissing tens of millions of Americans as racists, bigots, and homophobes. That is a very ugly thing to say and I took it personally. In my family we have three races, two religions, and five nationalities. I don't like being called a racist!"
Hillary Clinton's Unending Email Controversy
The Factor welcomed Tim Fitton of the conservative Judicial Watch organization, which has been pursuing Hillary Clinton's email situation. "The consequences of this have been severe," Fitton insisted, "and 62% of the people think her server is an important issue. As more information comes out, it could significantly hurt her as people see more information about the Clinton Foundation." Fitton added that his experience in this case has taught him a few things about Secretary Clinton. "I learned that Mrs. Clinton didn't want anyone to see her emails and I have learned that she has been illegally secretive in her government service."
Disrespecting the National Anthem
Several NFL players, following the lead of 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, are refusing to stand during the National Anthem. Charles Krauthammer entered the No Spin Zone to tackle that contentious issue. "This is a form of disrespect," Dr. K declared, "and they do it to get attention and as a way to protest. Some high school players are now following their lead because American history textbooks are catalogues of the pathologies of American history. They're all about racism and sexism and xenophobia, all of the sins of the fathers. But if this is the worst of the dissent, I think the country is doing well." But The Factor warned, "This is growing, it started with one guy and now it's other players and the kids."
Watters' World: More on Kaepernick
Jesse Watters went to a New York Jets game and asked some fans about those NFL players who are refusing to honor the flag. Some of their responses: "I don't even think Colin Kaepernick should be in the NFL" ... "It's a silent protest, he's not hurting anybody" ... "I blame the NFL for putting up with this" ... "Wake up, bro', send your message some other way!"

Dan Silvia, Swansea, MA: "O'Reilly, you made Hillary look like Mother Teresa when answering questions about her, and I'm sure you'll make Trump look like a fool when you do him."
