Talking Points Memo
Sad Times for the American Voter
"No matter who wins the election, there will be little joy. Both Clinton and Trump would enter the White House under dark clouds, they would be the most unpopular president-elects in history. Talking Points believes most Americans simply want the tawdry campaign to end. It should come as no surprise to anyone that more women are emerging to hammer Trump. Piling on is now an American sport, and all accusations are now convictions. Therefore both Trump and Clinton, who have extremely controversial resumes, will be battered without mercy right up to Election Day. WikiLeaks apparently has thousands of emails left to drop on Clinton. Expect a torrent of personal accusations against Trump. The result: a diminished country. We do not deserve this, but there is little we can do about it. Clinton and Trump won the nominations, that is our system. Both have dubious histories but voters did not seem to care. People ask me all the time, where are the inspirational leaders like the Roosevelts and Ronald Reagan? The answer is that most decent people don't want to be torn apart by Internet guttersnipes and a press that celebrates scandal. Thus, many good leaders simply sit it out. There are no journalistic standards anymore, as the WikiLeak hackers have demonstrated. The cold truth is that our political system has devolved into a chaotic circus where candidates with the most money usually win. With no privacy, with little restraint in the media, and with millions of Americans more interested in social media than actually experiencing life, we have now come to a point in history that would give solace to Nero. The next president of the United States will either be Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump. As Cronkite once said, that's the way it is."

Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich joined The Factor with his analysis of the tawdry situation. "This is probably the worst presidential election in the last 100 years," he theorized. One friend of mine has called this a news media coup d'état as he watched the entire news media attempt to destroy a candidate of one of the two parties. This would never have happened to JFK or Lyndon Johnson because there was a convention that has totally broken down. Journalism has collapsed and the New York Times has been the leader in that collapse. The stuff they've been doing on Trump is absurd! I will be willing to stipulate that Donald Trump has on occasion been crude if the media would stipulate that Hillary Clinton has been dishonest and corrupt. She is totally dishonest!"
Campaign 2016
New Fox News Campaign Poll
A new Fox Poll shows that Hillary Clinton has widened her lead over Donald Trump to seven points, with nearly half of Americans saying that Trump's crude comments have played a role in their decision-making. Political observers Tom Bevan and Daron Shaw analyzed the numbers. "The obvious headline here," Shaw said, "is that this is very bad news for the Republicans. States like Florida and North Carolina and Ohio have drifted away from Donald Trump, and he has collapsed among a lot of swing groups like suburban women." Bevan agreed that Trump is facing a mounting challenge. "We have seen swings in this race where Trump has regained ground, but time is his enemy at this point. We're less than a month from the vote and he has taken some steps backwards."
Truth Serum
Hillary and Open Borders
According to the Wikileaks hacked emails, Hillary Clinton told an audience of Brazilian bankers that she dreams of open borders and free trade across the hemisphere. Shannon Bream applied some truth serum to that allegation. "Her campaign won't verify these speeches," Bream said, "and they won't release the transcripts. So that leaves us with more questions than answers, but the campaign knew this speech would be an issue if anyone had a recording or a transcript." Eric Shawn turned to another Wikileaks revelation indicating that New York Times reporter Mark Leibovich gave the Clinton campaign veto power over some quotes. "The Times said it was an off-the-record interview with Mrs. Clinton. There were transcripts of the interview and Clinton aide Jennifer Palmieri told him what he could use. The Times is backing him."
What the Heck Just Happened?
Hillary Clinton, War-Monger?
Greg Gutfeld and Bernard McGuirk opined on Green Party candidate Jill Stein, who claims Hillary Clinton poses a far greater danger than Donald Trump. "She clearly hates women going after Hillary like that," Gutfeld quipped. "Also, she's representing the Green Party, an entire party devoted to money!" McGuirk, more serious for a change, endorsed Stein's stance. "Jill Stein is Bernie Sanders with a backbone and she happens to be right. Hillary Clinton is an interventionist who has not learned the lesson of Iraq." Like many Americans, Gutfeld expressed his disgust with the choices. "This is like going to a bad buffet where you have kale, ambrosia salad, and day-old cole slaw. But you gotta eat." Switching from the inedible to the unspeakable, McGuirk characterized the election as "Charlie Sheen versus Tonya Harding."
Weekdays with Bernie
Trump Fights Back
After the New York Times published allegations that Donald Trump groped several women, the Republican candidate vowed to fight back against the newspaper. Bernie Goldberg, for one, was unimpressed by Trump's denials. "This sounded like more of Donald's righteous indignation," Goldberg scoffed. "He doesn't deserve the benefit of the doubt because there have been too many allegations from too many women. He brings this on himself, he should have stayed in entertainment. I believe the allegations made against Bill Clinton by Paula Jones and Kathleen Willey and Juanita Broaddrick because we know Bill Clinton. And I believe the women who say Donald Trump did this because we know Donald Trump!"
Watters' World
Watters' World: Amish Country
Jesse Watters took his horseless carriage to Amish country in the swing state of Pennsylvania. Here is what a few of the religious adherents told him: "As Christians, we don't get involved in government" ... "Voting is against our religion." But Watters also ran into one non-Amish voter who seemed decidedly undecided. "I don't know if I'm going to vote or not," she said, "but if I do it will be for a woman." Being fair and balanced, one man voiced the exact opposition opinion, saying, "I'm voting for Trump because he's strong on illegal immigration and he'll protect our country."

Viewers Sound Off
Debbie Oldengarm, Dublin, TX: "Women that love their Bibles and guns will vote for Trump. That's more than half."

Annette Hegger, Murrieta, CA: "I think Trump should flat out ask women to vote for him. Then thank them in advance for their votes."

Paul Hundley, Los Angeles, CA: "Bill, you don't get it. The Trump campaign cannot say they will target women voters because of all the claims that have been made."

Diane Garland, Cynthiana, KY: "As an educated woman, I am offended by those who believe I am shallow enough not to see that Trump's stupid sexual blather should not overshadow the real issues."
