More with President Trump
Tuesday's live show began with more from Bill's extensive interview with President Trump. Some excerpts:

O'Reilly: What time do you get up?
President Trump: 5:00. I read the papers, I look at the television and I see the lies. When I was a businessman I got good press, but at some of the networks and papers there is a level of dishonesty. It's 'fake news' and they're doing it because I'm on the other side of the equation. They call themselves 'progressive,' but it's not true. They don't like anybody on our side.
O'Reilly: They're saying that you're anti-Muslim, anti-black, anti-poor. Does it hurt your feelings that they're making you into a hater?
President Trump: No because they always do it. The first thing they do with Republicans is to pull out the 'racist' card. They do it with everybody, and once you see that you feel a lot better.
O'Reilly: Is there any validity to the criticism that you say things you can't back up factually. If you say there are 3-million illegal aliens who voted but you don't have the data to back it up, some people say that's irresponsible for a president to do.
President Trump: Many people have come out and said I'm right. When you look at the registration, there are many dead people who have voted and people who have voted in two states. There are a lot of bad things happening, take a look at the registration, it's a really bad situation.
O'Reilly: But the data has to show that 3-million illegals voted.
President Trump: I'm going to set up a commission headed by Vice President Mike Pence and we're going to look at it very carefully.

O'Reilly: Do you think you will convince the media to give you a fair shot?
President Trump: Yes, I think success will do that, jobs will do that, and companies coming back into our country will do that.
O'Reilly: Do you ever say to yourself, 'I cannot believe that I'm here, that I'm the president?
President Trump: The other day I walked into the main entrance to the White House and I said to myself this is sort of amazing. When you walk into the Oval Office or Air Force One it's kind of a surreal experience, but you have to get over it because there is so much work to be done, whether it's jobs or other nations that truly hate us. You have to get over it.
President Trump Breaking Big News in His Factor Interview
"The headline-grabber was Mr. Trump talking about Putin, saying that the USA is guilty of some deadly judgments and we should not be so ready to condemn the Russian leader. That was flashy but not really substantial. As we explained last night, President Trump wants to make a deal with Putin that would encourage Russia to help us crush ISIS and neutralize Iran, so he is not going to alienate Putin at this time. You may remember that President Roosevelt dealt with Stalin, a killer who makes Putin look like Little Bo Peep. FDR did that to defeat Hitler. Also, as the president Tweeted, Barack Obama made deals with Iran even though the mullahs are big-time killers. So history is full of compromises, something that was not pointed out by the media in its rush to bash Trump over Putin. To me, the most important thing the president said in that interview was that he will hold Iran accountable for aggressive actions. That's a huge difference from President Obama, who did not want to confront Iran. Also Mr. Trump will apparently punish sanctuary cities by withholding federal funds. The far-left will mobilize its protest apparatus; the president will be labeled a bigot. However, I do not believe Donald Trump is going to back down from the sanctuary cities. The other breaking news had to do with tax cuts, with the president saying they will happen this year. Also Obamacare, which looks like it will take a little longer to dismantle than Mr. Trump originally thought. All in all, a lot of news came out of a 36-minute interview. The president was direct and confident in his positions. That, of course, drives the Trump-haters absolutely mad."

The Factor asked former Obama advisor Austan Goolsbee to assess the interview. "There was a lot of news," he said, "but I thought on many of the issues he was not determined as you say. On the tax cut, he said something like, 'I think there will be a tax cut.' That was news-making because it was not a big priority and it may not happen this year." Goolsbee also offered some advice to President Trump. "What I didn't like was that he stated things that are demonstrably not true and he needs to stop that. Also, I don't think he understands that the first three months are the most fun you'll have as a president. We grind our presidents up, the media gets more and more cyincal!" The Factor pointed out, "President Obama had a honeymoon, but this guy has knives coming at him every second."
Bernie on the Trump Super Bowl Interview
Bernie Goldberg also weighed in on the conversation with President Trump. "The Putin 'killer' exchange was important," he said, "because of the conservative reaction. Imagine if President Obama had said he respected Putin and said, 'There are a lot of killers, you think we're so innocent?' The people watching us tonight would be outraged, they would accuse him of treason. Where is the conservative outrage over this statement? Donald Trump has told us how smart he is, but why didn't he just say, 'I have to deal with people who don't win humanitarian awards?' He didn't say that, he left it to you to give a generous interpretation of what he meant."
Trump's Presidential Controversies
After less than three weeks, it's obvious that Donald Trump is not your standard issue president. He has engaged in fights with a federal judge, Democrats, and especially the media. Former Bush aide Dana Perino scrutinized his war with the press. "There was some constructive criticism," she recalled, "of how we ran press relations at the White House, that we didn't push back enough. President Trump has a different approach, he takes them on and that is his style. As he said, what will matter in the end is whether he gets results." The Factor declared, "Donald Trump is not going to let a dishonest media run rampant, he's going to hit them."
What is the Future of the Trump Travel Ban?
The Trump administration's travel ban imposed on seven nations has been blocked by a federal judge. On Tuesday afternoon a higher federal court heard arguments from both sides. Legal aces Kimberly Guilfoyle and Eboni Williams opined on the case. "President Trump's order should be allowed to go forward based on the law," Guilfoyle declared, "but this Court of Appeals is very liberal. I think it will come down to a 2 - 1 vote and they will favor the temporary restraining order." Williams agreed with that prediction. "The statutory language is very clear and President Trump has full authority on this, but I agree that this court is very liberal." The Factor lamented, "Once again these judges will violate their oath and they will try to make policy rather than upholding their oath."
The Deranged Left Vs. Trump
Greg Gutfeld and Bernard McGuirk scrutinized the Trump-hatred that has infected many in Congress and in the media. "The right thinks the left is wrong," Gutfeld observed, "but the left thinks the right is evil! Trump may not be a normal candidate, but his agenda is fairly normal. He's a centrist, but they have convinced themselves that he is worse than global warming, meteor strikes, and a new season of 'Will and Grace.' He's ticking off the right people, they're losing their minds!" McGuirk also chimed in on Trump Derangement Syndrome. "They've always hated him, but now it's amped up because he's in a presidential setting. They see him signing executive orders and appointing judges and it drives them insane. He could play hide-and-seek with Barron, he could play with ten puppies, he could even transition into a woman and they would hate him."

Factor Words of the Day
Josie Morton, Berkeley Springs, WV: "Mr. O'Reilly, I think you owe Mr. Putin and the president an apology. It is not your business to say whether Putin is a killer?"

Gene Maloziec, Canadian Lakes, MI: "Bill, in your book Killing Kennedy, you wrote about JFK's order to assassinate President Diem in South Vietnam. We do kill."

Denise Carter, Cos Cob, CT: "The interview with the president was boring! A no fun event."

Gini Allen, Boise ID: "O'Reilly, your gotcha question about Putin being a killer was just an attempt to bring the word 'kill' into play because of your books."
