In this episode, two experts describe the important role the White House Chief of Staff position plays in the White House.

Chris Whipple, author of the new book The Gatekeepers: How the White House Chiefs of Staff Define Every Presidency, describes how Richard Nixon’s White House, despite ending in scandal, created the organizational template for all future presidencies.

Whipple also explains how Chief of Staff James Baker was essential to first-term success in Ronald Reagan’s administration, and what Donald Trump needs from current Chief of Staff Reince Priebus.

Fox News Chief National Correspondent Ed Henry, author of the new book 42 Faith: The Rest of the Jackie Robinson Story, then joins the podcast to discuss how Trump’s White House is currently operating. Henry also shares his observations on past chiefs of staff he covered in his previous role as White House correspondent.
