The Fall of the FBI

It is hard to believe the FBI has fallen so far. When I was a kid the country revered the Bureau, driven by images on the ABC show starring a guy named Efrem Zimbalist, Jr.

Today, the image of the FBI is in tatters. First former Director James Comey proved himself corrupt, now the present chief, Christopher Wray, is also suspect. His testimony last week in front of a Senate committee was evasive and embarrassing. Why? Because Wray could be fired at any time by President Biden so he simply would not state the truth about issues like Russian Collusion, a sore subject for the FBI and the Democrats.

The legendary FBI director J. Edgar Hoover was corrupt as I document in my book "Killing the Mob."  But back then the public didn't know about his sordid activities.  Hoover was a blackmailer and operated outside the law.  But the Bureau survived him intact.

This week, the raid on Donald Trump's home made worldwide headlines and few are giving the Bureau the benefit of the doubt. It's not the sixties anymore. The FBI needs to explain itself and so does Attorney General Merrick Garland.  If there is serious evidence against Donald Trump, the country should know.

If not, the FBI's coffin is nailed. Permanently.
