Sri Lanka says Local Extremist Group Carried out Easter Attacks; MSNBC 'Ambushes' Mueller Outside Church After Easter Service

Sri Lanka says local extremist group carried out Easter attacks; at least 290 dead including 39 tourists

Health Minister and cabinet spokesman Rajitha Senaratne told reporters that a local group, National Thowheeth Jama’ath, was behind the series of explosions that killed at least 290 people and wounded another 500.

The health minister blamed the group at a news conference in Colombo, the capital, adding: “There was an international network without which these attacks could not have succeeded.”

The Times of India has an in-depth look at the group and the attacks. It has not been confirmed whether the group had help from an outside network.

Meanwhile, Dieter Kowalski from Colorado was identified as one of the Americans killed in the attacks in Colombo, Sri Lanka on Sunday, according to his employer Pearson.

Former President Obama and former candidate Hillary Clinton are now coming under fire for offering similar condolence messages on Twitter both condemning the attacks on ‘Easter worshippers,’ as opposed to ‘Christians’.

GOP Hits Romney for Criticizing Trump

Several Republicans took issue with Sen. Mitt Romney over the weekend after he said he was “sickened” by President Donald Trump’s actions as detailed in special counsel Robert Mueller’s report.

Romney said it was “good news that there was insufficient evidence to charge” Trump with conspiracy following the report’s release and that “the alternative would have taken us through a wretching process with the potential for constitutional crisis.”

However, he went on to slam Trump, writing, “Even so, I am sickened at the extent and pervasiveness of dishonesty and misdirection by individuals in the highest office of the land, including the President.”

Parents Sue CT School, Say Son Was Expelled Due to Conservative Views

Parents in Connecticut have filed a lawsuit against Cheshire Academy alleging that their son, Michael Mancini, was expelled due to his conservative views, The Hill reported Sunday.

Mancini during an English class discussion on William Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night” said people who are transgender have "legitimate hormonal or mental disorder" and are "just looking for attention," myrecordjournal.com. reported.
Julie Anderson, head of schools at the academy, wrote in a letter to parents that Mancini “was given a number of chances to adhere to our expectations, and the rules and code of conduct of Cheshire Academy,” according to myrecordjournal.com. “Contrary to what you may have read, our decision was not based on an opposition to political dialogue."
