In a world of 24/7 social media criticism, it's hard to be a normal person and make a mistake.  It's even harder when you do it on a syndicated game show.

 

That's what happened to three "Wheel of Fortune" contestants who couldn't piece together the dated phrase "another feather in your cap."

 

The cruel Twitterverse mocked the contestants for missing the easy layup and guessing "map" instead of "cap."

 

Enter the game show's longtime host Pat Sajak who took to Twitter to defend the contestants from the meanies, letting them know they could never understand the pressure of being on national television.

 

Good job Pat.  That's why America loves you.

 

If you really analyze the phrase, it's also easy to see that it's not used as much anymore.

 

But we all know this is not about being rational.
