Let's say if you are an elected official, you should be smart enough to know when White supremacists are hosting the event you're attending.

It's a pretty lame excuse to say you or your staff and advisors had no idea who the event host was like Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene did.

That's what staff and advisors are supposed to know if you don't.

If you want to show that you are a capable politician and someone who will work for the people, then the least you should do is not embarrass them by affiliating yourself with such an ugly movement that hurts people and the country.
