This hasn’t been a great week for two women who once earned paychecks by standing at the White House podium and shamelessly, endlessly lying.

First, there is the Great Prevaricator Karine Jean-Pierre, always quick to remind you that she made history by being Black and lesbian.  KJP is now hawking a book about her time in the White House and making the media rounds.  She’s sporting a vastly different look, but continues to insist that her boss was a man of wit and wisdom to the very end.  Naturally, Jean-Pierre’s book tour has included only friendly venues like The View and Colbert.  But even among those media pals, she has faced friendly fire – CBS’s Gayle King and others angrily implied that everyone could see Joe Biden was a dead man walking.

Karine got negative pushback at nearly every stop, but remember that these now-hostile media hacks were once her willing accomplices.  Until that fateful and fatal debate, they took her word that Joe Biden was at the peak of his powers.  But now, with the corporate media on life support, they’ve had a deathbed conversion.

Now, let’s circle back to Karine’s podium predecessor, the ever-smiling Jen Psaki.  This week, Biden’s former foot soldier put her own foot in her mouth while appearing on a podcast that resembled an adult version of ‘Mean Girls.’  Jen, now a host on MSNBC, actually ridiculed J.D. Vance’s wife, Usha.  She speculated that Usha Vance looks like a hostage, perhaps even the victim of spousal abuse, and invited her to ‘blink four times’ if she needs rescuing.  Usha Vance may be the most accomplished Second Lady in history, with undergraduate and law degrees from Yale.  She’s the daughter of Indian immigrants and an American success story in every way.  But to Jen Psaki and her ilk, anyone marrying a Republican or harboring conservative thoughts is to be questioned and ridiculed.

Jen Psaki and Karine Jean-Pierre lied for a living and were quite adept at it.  They told falsehoods about the border, inflation, Hunter, and especially their boss’s obvious decline, thus imperiling the nation.  As a result, many Americans now have trouble believing anything that comes out of their mouths.  It brings to mind the Scottish poet Sir Walter Scott, who wrote that famous line about lies and their lingering effects:  ‘Oh, what a tangled web we weave … when first we practice to deceive.’

Jen Psaki and Karine Jean-Pierre are trapped in a web of lies that they spun with their spin.  Their dishonesty will haunt them for the rest of their lives.
