This coming weekend China once again has the privilege of showcasing its power and prestige by hosting an Olympics.

 

Due to Covid, NBC isn't sending their announcers to China and spectators will be limited to the government's approval.  Basically, the games are a propaganda showcase but without the thin veil of sports journalism.

 

But in this case, it's worse. The corrupt International Olympic Committee is aiding a country that actively participates in genocide, with their treatment of the Muslim Uyghurs. A country that has a commitment to stamping out freedom of speech, take a look at Hong Kong, and a country that is responsible for the Covid pandemic.

 

Even with obvious Human Rights issues and blatant questionable actions, like a top-tier Chinese tennis player disappearing after she accused a Chinese official of sexual assault, the IOC and NBC refuse to take a financial hit and make a stand.

 

So now it's up to Americans to voice their displeasure with China.  Hopefully, the ratings will show that Americans will not tolerate tyranny.
