Financial Times: Talks on cutting the US deficit hovered close to failure on Friday but low expectations meant that there was little sign of a market backlash. The deficit 'supercommittee' is expected to continue negotiating through the weekend but aides were increasingly pessimistic because of a gulf between the Republican and Democratic positions on tax revenues.
