Apparently, Fox News executives met with Donald Trump at his golf club in New Jersey to persuade him to show up at the FNC debate in late August.

No doubt the pitch was that access to the network would be important to Trump's campaign in the future, and he would be treated fairly by FNC debate moderators.

That is likely true, but the FNC people will not be able to control Chris Christie and Nikki Haley, who will both try to eviscerate Trump. In fact, none of the GOP contenders have a chance unless they can downgrade Trump.

In addition, the former president's lead in the polls is so big he has little to gain by attacking his rivals which he would do. Let the mud-fest begin.

Donald Trump is not afraid of anyone; that has been demonstrated time and again. Voters who support Trump know that and will not abandon him if he doesn't debate.

Finally, Democrats and the leftist media desperately hope Trump will show up so they can use Christie's harsh rhetoric to attack the former president. That would be the headline the next day.

Debating can be useful. But the fix is already in on this one.

If you missed the No Spin News last night, you've got to see it. Hope you'll take the time.
