Deterioration of the National Media

Veteran journalist Steven Brill is launching an internet site to expose “fake news.” That might be a good thing if it is entirely fact-based and steers away from ideology. Americans certainly need to identify the deceivers in the media.
But there is another press problem that may be even worse than altering facts to fit a preconceived narrative. Today, many media people simply want accusations, they have no interest in seeking the truth about important situations.
For example, the anti-Trump press tells us that there is chaos and dysfunction inside the White House. They point to the resignation of communications director Hope Hicks to back that up. But, at this point, nothing has been established that indicates Ms. Hicks is leaving because she is disenchanted. The media hopes that is the case but has nothing to back it up.
However, the press embraces and reports the “chaos” theory as fact.
Same thing with allegations of “misconduct” by men. Few search for perspective or facts. The brutal truth is that if you are accused - you are guilty. The media and advocacy groups, mostly on the left, could not care less about what really happened. That’s too difficult to find out. Easier to just hoist a virtuous shield and condemn the alleged perpetrator.
Lawyers and plaintiffs well understand the climate. Justice is not something the media seeks and lives are being badly damaged.
If truth is not paramount for the nation’s press corps, our Republic is weakened. And that is the case right now.
Tonight on the No Spin News, Monica Crowley and I will analyze the amazing deterioration of the media and look for a few solutions. Hope you’ll check that out beginning at 7 eastern time.
Thanks for spending time with us today.
