Country music singer Eric Church recently opened himself up to criticism and backlash by canceling a sold-out concert in Texas to attend a basketball game.

To be fair it's not just any basketball game, it's the first time ever Duke has met the University of North Carolina in the Final Four.

Church is a Tar Heels mega-fan and this is the final season for Duke's long-time coach, the winner plays for the championship.  This is one of those once-in-a-lifetime games.

But the musician had already sold out the arena in San Antonio, where up to 18,500 people may have lost out on not only seeing Church, but travel arrangements, hours for workers, and more.

Church admitted the move was selfish in a statement but asked his fans to understand.

He surely will take a hit for the move but we can't fully hate on him for his fandom.

However, his fans who put down their hard-earned money are justified to be critical, that's not unreasonable in this type of situation.
