Politico: Remarking that "the sights and sounds and memories all feel very familiar," President Barack Obama on Tuesday celebrated a long-awaited homecoming to the nation where he spent four years as a child.

At a news conference with Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Obama said it was "a little disorienting" to return as president to Indonesia, recalling the crowded streets, rickshaws and "little taxis, but you stood in the back" that greeted him when he moved here with his mother in 1967 after she married an Indonesian.

"And now, as president, I can't even see any traffic because they blocked off all the streets," Obama said.

After two previously scheduled trips to Indonesia were canceled earlier this year - one because of the health care debate and the other because of the BP oil spill - Obama's arrival here was much anticipated by Indonesians, who take considerable pride in Obama's connection to their country and his rise to the presidency.
