This time next week, there will be more bad news for Joe Biden as the House committees ramp up for a likely "impeachment inquiry." So what exactly is that?
It's simply an assemblage of allegations and information that House members can digest. Then, there may be a committee vote on whether the full House should approve "articles of impeachment" against the President. If that passes, the evidence then goes to the Senate for a trial. Two-thirds of the Senators must vote to convict. That has never happened in our country.
At this point, impeachment is a political tool that most Americans almost ignore. The two Trump impeachments, absurd as they were, pretty much destroyed the Congressional mechanism.
Joe Biden will not be convicted in the Senate based on today's evidence. It would take direct bribery facts to remove him, and even then, many Democrats would oppose it.
So, the question this Labor Day weekend is: Will House Republicans do to Biden what Democrats did to Trump?
I think they will.
Enjoy the end of summer.
