Putin: 'No One Should Have the Illusion' They Can Defeat Russia
From BillOReilly.com
Bill O'Reilly's Full Interview with Donald Trump
A few things we did not get to – these are stories that are of interest, but there is nothing we can do with them, because this is basically a news analysis and debate program.
When hard news is there, we leave it to Bret Baier and shows like that to cover it. Greta covers hard news as well.
So, Russia is going to beef up its nuclear arsenal, it is trying to intimidate everybody. No surprise there.
It is distressing that in this world, there is so much tension.
I cannot really get a handle on this Sidney Blumenthal / Libya story, there is no definitive what or why on it – there is a lot of conjecture, which I do not like to do.
So I have not really reported it.
Same thing with the Lois Lerner / IRS stuff. We know the IRS is not telling the truth, but until Congress comes out with some definitive thing, very little that I can report on. I am not there.
We are just not getting anything. We are getting dribs and drabs of stuff.
We cannot really report on it with any certainty – that is what I like to do.
I like to have my segments “pay off” – so you learn something. If I do not think there is anything to be learned, I just don’t do it. And sometimes we get hurt in the ratings because of that – but I think it is just a more honest show. And more interesting if we do not get into this might, coulda, woulda, shoulda.
The other thing that we are not going to do is we are not going to cover speeches.
I did not cover Trump’s speech yesterday, I did my own interview with him. Which I think was much more satisfying for everybody, because in speeches politicians can say anything.
Now, if they say something incredibly stupid, I might pull it off for Talking Points, but am I going to give it credence? No.
The one point that Trump has that is really resonating with a lot of people is they are tired of politicians bloviating and BSing. And then they get in there, they don’t do anything. Nothing gets fixed.
Trump says if he ever got elected, he would be different. And that is his appeal. That is absolutely his appeal. He is coming in there and saying, look, I am not a politician, I am going to solve the problem, bing, bing, bing, bing.
What I think he is underestimating, if he ever did get elected, was the difficulty about Congress. He has to win those people over, or you do not get anything done. You cannot just executive order it.
If you want to build a big wall on the southern border, I think it is more of a fantasy than a reality. He says he can do it, but with Congress sitting there, very difficult to do something like that.
We hope you enjoyed that interview with Trump. More to come on the political front.
