If you are tired of all the midterm election blather, I am here to give you shelter. This column will tell you exactly why things happened according to nationwide exit polling as well as my own reporting.

The Republicans and President Trump angered the electorate because the Iranian conflict ignited prices for essentials in America. It wasn’t so much the actual war; it was the unintended consequences of it: big economic pain to working-class folks.

In addition, the Republican Party and the White House showed scant empathy towards Americans who are getting hammered. That’s important. Ballrooms and macroeconomics mean little to a family whose utility bill has doubled. Those folks want their situation discussed and addressed by the powers that be
It wasn’t to any meaningful extent.
President Trump himself has done some great things but comes off as indecisive when dealing with the Mullahs. That frustrates many of us who want a favorable resolution regarding the terror state. Despite saber-rattling rhetoric, that has not come about, and now many Democrats are more than ready to surrender to the Mullahs - which would be a historical disaster.
Last week, 75 percent of voters cited in exit polling see the overall Iran situation as the biggest deficit for Republicans.
Vice President Vance feels the elections turned largely because of the conflict in Iran. Does President Trump agree? https://t.co/eWqD2IMKFW

“Trump hatred” is also high in the sampling. Independent voters turned against the President in big numbers; the left loathes him; the media would like to destroy the President as well as his family. Mr. Trump’s core support was simply overwhelmed.
Just two years ago, Donald Trump received 77 million votes. On Tuesday, millions switched their allegiance, a stunning turnaround.
Hispanic voters led the way, especially in Texas. The aggressive ICE tactics alienated millions of Hispanics. Homeland Security, which runs ICE, rarely explained the controversies. Does anyone know what Markwayne Mullin even looks like? Where the deuce is he? Hiding under a couch?

Perhaps the biggest problem the Republicans have, besides the empathy deficit, is terrible messaging. The tariffs are a vivid example. Treasury Secretary Bessent says they are working well. But how? Is the national debt falling? Don’t think so. Are tariffs lowering prices? No. So what’s up?
Like Mullin, Bessent doesn’t explain, so the folks don’t know. They only hear propaganda from the radical left and isolationist right.
Your humble correspondent thought the GOP might keep the Senate. But with weak candidates in Texas, South Carolina, Georgia, and other places, the rout was on.
The surprise was that millions of non-ideological voters gave power to radical extremists who will now try to dismantle traditional America. You’ll see the disruption begin very soon. The feckless Charles Schumer will not stop it.
President Trump will fight on with MAGA warrior Stephen Miller by his side. However, his party is weak and confused. As Lesley Gore once sang: “You would cry too if it happened to you.”
It has happened.
