WSPA-TV: A spokesman has confirmed that South Carolina Republican U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint plans to introduce legislation to end federal funding for NPR. The spokesman says the senator will expand upon his proposal in a statement on Friday. However CBS News reports NPR doesn't receive direct federal funding for operations - the largest chunk of its money comes from program fees and station dues charged to affiliate stations.
