Last night I lived tweeted the seventh Democrat debate, for as long as I could stay awake. If you missed it, here’s what I thought:
- 9:10PM: Senator Warren says she’ll make a good Commander in Chief because she has visited troops and has military brothers.
- 9:14PM: Bernie asked hard question about ISIS. Dodges. Calls for international coalition. Isn’t that NATO? Sanders has no idea how to stop ISIS.
- 9:17PM: Warren would remove all US troops from Middle East. So ISIS runs wild? No answer from Elizabeth.
- 9:19PM: Sanders wants to “bring the world together.”
- 9:21PM: Biden will not withdraw troops. Seems to understand terror is still a threat.
- 9:23PM: Warren would get out of Afghanistan.
- 9:26PM: Mayor Pete wants to work with our “partners” to ensure Iran doesn’t get a nuke.
- 9:27PM: Senator Klobuchar would “bring people together” to prevent Iran nukes.
- 9:35PM: Warren supports Trump trade deal but says Trump is bad on trade. Really.
- 9:35PM: The trade thing is boring. Bernie wants to get to climate change.
- 9:40PM: So far Biden is winning the debate. Warren losing. The other four are there.
- 9:41PM: Warren says US Corporations are corrupt.
- 9:43PM: Mayor Pete wants to “move on” from fossil fuels.
- 9:45PM: Bernie denies telling Warren a woman can’t be elected president. Somehow blames Trump for CNN’s report which again he denies.
- 9:47PM: Warren says she “disagrees” with Bernie’s answer but doesn’t want to fight with Bernie. So, who’s not telling the truth. Moderators don’t press Warren which is ridiculous.
- 9:49PM: Sanders looks dumb trying to refute Warren and is teed off with her.
- 9:51PM: Biden agrees women can win the presidency. Who knew?
- 10:07PM: Debate moderates losing control because they don’t follow up on general answers that mean nothing. This debate will be low rated.
- 10:09PM: Mayor Pete wants to “roll back” Trump’s corporate tax cut. The moderators don’t point out the surging economy in it’s wake.
- 10:11PM: Mayor Pete and Senator Klobuchar ganging up on Warren on health care costs.
- 10:13PM: Bernie scores on high prescription drug cost. His strongest issue. Americans do pay more than other countries.
- 10:15PM: Biden sounds befuddled on drug prices.
- 10:17PM: Warren is going to lower drug prices by herself. But how? She’ll put more generic drugs out there. Okay
- 10:20PM: All the Dems say the feds will subsidize childcare. Big expenditure
- 10:21PM: Warren says her Aunt Bee provided her childcare. Opie has no comment.
- 10:22PM: Bernie says military spending will be switched to childcare.
- 10:23PM: Biden will give the kids everything.
- 10:25PM: 90 minutes in, we’ve heard all of this before. Moderators out of questions. I’m getting drowsy.
- 10:27PM: Warren says wealth tax will “build the economy.”
- 10:31PM: Hanging it up. Pretty boring. Learning little. Biden started strong but petered out. Warren and Sanders pretty much the same. Mayor Pete wants good things for all. Please check out the No Spin News tomorrow night.
