Reuters: The Nigerian man accused of trying to blow up a U.S. airliner with a bomb hidden in his underwear on Christmas Day in 2009 will go on trial on October 4, a U.S. judge said on Tuesday. On a flight to Detroit from Amsterdam, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab tried to ignite explosives packed in his underwear, U.S. authorities say. The bomb failed to fully detonate and he was subdued by passengers and crew aboard the Northwest Airlines jumbo jet.
