Director Oliver Stone's latest offering focuses on Edward Snowden, the former CIA employee who leaked classified information. Stone entered the No Spin Zone with more on his film and his view of Snowden. "I stay away from the politics," he claimed, "and I try to stick to my role as a dramatist. I did movies about Nixon and Bush and I was criticized by some on the left for not making Bush more demonic. This film is empathetic to Snowden, but I'm not trying to lead you, I'm trying to lay out a story that happened. We don't know a lot about the CIA and the NSA, and President Obama has doubled down on the Bush administration's surveillance and other forms of warfare. Governments lie and they protect their own interests." The Factor reminded Stone, "Most Americans want more security, but they don't want individuals like Snowden to reveal national secrets that could cost lives."
