They blew it. The ratings popped up just a little, but that's because one of the world's greatest entertainers either felt entitled or lost his mind.
Award shows have long promoted the mild roastings of actors by edgy comedians, and they finally got the reaction they wanted. Unfortunately, it looked bad that Will Smith seemed to be rewarded for it.
While he was sobbing onstage, no one seemed to have any sympathy for Chris Rock, who did exactly what they asked him to do.
And to make matters worse the show once again omitted some of Hollywood's beloved actors like Bob Saget and Norm Macdonald who appeared in numerous films, slapping their fans in the face.
