Almost two-thirds of people polled believe President Trump’s longtime lawyer Michael Cohen, who says his former client ordered him to make illegal payments to two women claiming they had affairs with Trump, but less than half think Congress should begin the process of impeaching the president, according to a new poll. A poll released Tuesday by Axios/Survey Monkey found 64 percent believe Cohen, but only 44 percent think Congress should start impeachment proceedings. The poll — taken after Cohen pleaded guilty last week to charges of campaign finance violations related to his work for Trump, tax fraud and false statements to a bank — also found that white suburban women, “Never Hillary” independents and rural voters strongly oppose impeachment. Millennials and black women strongly support it.
