Got a big reaction from the segment about righteous anger last night; that's the concept whereby an individual displays extreme annoyance over an incident or personal behavior of another person.
Parental discipline can be righteous; defending yourself against a threat certainly qualifies, and so does trying to right an obvious wrong.
There is a reason the New Testament features Jesus overturning the tables of merchants on the floor of the Temple. That display of righteous anger is very vivid in scripture.
But caution. The prisons are filled with inmates who claim legitimate anger after breaking the law. Here the old cliche comes in: two wrongs don't make a right.
In order to be truly righteous, you have to control yourself. You have to harness your anger, not let it lead you to anti-social behavior.
That is very hard to do - take it from me.
For a just cause, controlled anger can be positive - but if it gets out of control - bad things will always happen.
