KXAN-TV: Despite assertions by Gov. Rick Perry's presidential campaign that the three-term Republican has been "butalized" in the media, a new study suggests that he's actually gotten a smooth ride so far.

"Despite his recent stumbles, Rick Perry received the most flattering coverage of any candidate over the five months studied," the Pew Research Center for Excellence in Journalism said in a report published Monday.

Perry's favorable coverage has outweighed the unfavorable 32 percent to 20 percent, Pew found. But his coverage did take a hit after a lackluster debate performances starting late last month.
