A new Gallup survey shows that Americans have little regard or respect for television news. I think the number is 16 percent have a favorable opinion of it.
That’s not a shock as the industry has collapsed under the weight of corporate leadership which is clearly only interested in making money. Actually providing honest information to the American people is not even a consideration anymore.
Almost every week there is a shocking breach of journalistic ethics on the tube. This week a woman reporter covering abortion for CBS News quit her job and immediately announced she is a pro-choice enthusiast.
Nice. CBS had to know that yet kept her on the abortion beat anyway. Fair? Of course not. Dishonest? Yes, it is.
The folks know TV news is over. Now, it’s entertainment and people tend to watch news presenters who tell them what they want to hear. That’s not journalism. That’s propaganda.
Worthwhile TV news is gone, baby, gone.
